Quick take: the wall-mounted Apple HomeView is a 14.55 cm (5.73") square display less than 1 cm thick. It has no battery and no speaker base, so it needs a wall mount and a constant USB-C power supply. You can plug it in with a cable to a nearby outlet, which anyone can install, or wire it into the wall, which is a job for an electrician.

Wall Mounted vs. the stand model
HomeView comes in two versions. The stand model sits on a speaker base with a woofer and comes with its cable and power adapter. The Wall Mounted model drops the base, so it is far thinner and lighter, but the mount, the USB-C cable and the power adapter are each sold separately.

Plug-in or wired: pick your power
HomeView only works while it has power, so how you power it decides how you mount it.
- Plug-in (USB-C): a USB-C cable from the back of HomeView to a 20W or higher USB-C power adapter in a nearby outlet. No electrician and no holes beyond the mount screws. Hide the cable in a paintable stick-on raceway.
- Wired into the wall: Apple sells Power Mounts that connect to in-wall power, and Apple recommends a licensed electrician for the AC version. A Power over Ethernet version is planned for early 2027 for homes already wired with Ethernet.
If you are renting, or want to try a spot before committing, start with plug-in. You can always move to in-wall power later.
Where to put it
Apple pitches the wall model for entrances and hallways: somewhere you pass every day, to check the door camera, lock up, or turn off the lights on the way out.
- Height: put the centre of the screen around 145–150 cm (57–59″) from the floor, about where a light switch panel or thermostat would sit for an adult standing. The camera sits at the top centre, so this height frames faces for FaceTime and Intercom.
- Temperature: Apple rates HomeView for 0–35 °C (32–95 °F). Keep it out of unheated garages, porches, direct afternoon sun, and the spot above a heat register or stove.
- Power: for plug-in, pick a wall within reach of an outlet, or right above one, so the cable run is short.
- Wi-Fi: check your phone gets a strong signal at the spot. A hallway at the far end of the house can be a weak point.
How to wall mount HomeView (plug-in)
- Hold the mount at your chosen height and mark it with a level.
- At 286 g, HomeView is light: 2 screws into drywall anchors are plenty, and on smooth painted walls command strips work too. Wipe the spot with rubbing alcohol first.
- Plug a USB-C cable into the back of HomeView. A right-angle plug keeps the display closer to the wall.
- Fix the mount to the wall. With strips, wait one full hour before hanging anything on it.
- Route the cable down to the outlet and hide it in a raceway.
- Set HomeView in the mount and plug the cable into a 20W or higher USB-C power adapter.
Our Wall Mount for Apple HomeView takes the plug-in route: a slim plate on the back of HomeView slides onto a wall plate, the USB-C port stays clear, and it goes up with 2 screws or command strips.
Hiding the cable inside the wall
For a cable-free look with plug-in power, run the USB-C cable inside the wall from behind the mount down to a recessed outlet or a cable pass-through plate near the floor. Use a cable rated for in-wall use, and check your local code. Anything that touches mains wiring, like adding an outlet behind the display, is a job for an electrician.
Questions
Does the wall-mounted HomeView come with a mount?
No. The mount, the USB-C cable and the power adapter (20W or higher) are each sold separately.
Do I need an electrician to wall mount HomeView?
Not for the plug-in setup: a USB-C cable to a nearby outlet is a simple job. In-wall power is different, and Apple recommends a licensed electrician for its AC wired mount.
Can HomeView run on battery on the wall?
No. Apple lists wired power as required for both models.
How high should I mount HomeView?
Put the centre of the screen about 145–150 cm (57–59″) from the floor so the screen is at eye level and the camera frames your face.
Can I put HomeView in a garage or outside?
Only if it stays between 0 and 35 °C (32 to 95 °F), Apple's operating range. Most garages and porches do not.
