Quick take: your iPad model number is the letter A followed by four digits, like A2696. It is printed in the small text on the back of the iPad, and you can also see it in Settings. Once you have it, find it in the table below or in the tablet model lookup.
Find the model number on the back
Turn the iPad over and look at the small print near the bottom edge. One of the lines reads Model followed by the A number. Take the case off first if it covers the back.
Find the model number in Settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap General, then About.
- Look at the Model Number line. It first shows a code with a slash in it, like MPQ03LL/A.
- Tap that line once. It switches to the model number, the one that starts with A.
Part number vs model number
The code with a slash is the part number. It changes with colour, storage and the country the iPad was sold in. The code that starts with A and has no slash is the model number. It identifies the hardware itself, so it is the one to use when you check whether a case, a charger or a wall mount fits.
One iPad usually has a few model numbers: one for Wi-Fi, one or two for Wi-Fi + Cellular, and sometimes one for China mainland. They are the same size and shape, so the same mount fits all of them.

Which wall mount fits my iPad?
Every iPad in the table has been fit-tested with these mounts:
- Frameless Tablet Wall Mount for iPad & Samsung
- Frameless Tablet Wall Mount for Huawei & iPad
- Slim Hidden Wall Mount for iPad
- Tablet Docking Wall Mount for iPad
The slim hidden mount and the docking mount go up with 2 screws or with command strips, so you can put them up without drilling. The tablet slides down onto the wall plate and lifts off for charging.
