Apple HomeView Announced: What Apple's $299 Smart Display Means for Your Smart Home

Apple made its biggest smart home move in years today. The device long rumored as "HomePad" is officially Apple HomeView — a 7-inch smart display at $299, with pre-orders open now and in-store availability starting Friday, November 13. Here's what was confirmed, and why the most interesting part isn't the display itself.

What Apple announced (confirmed, October 13, 2026)

  • 7-inch smart display, $299: a dedicated smart home hub with a speaker base, powered by an A18 chip and a new conversational Siri AI that recognizes up to six household members by face and adapts what's on screen to who's looking.
  • Smart home first: works with Apple Home and Matter accessories, with on-screen controls for lights, locks, thermostats, and cameras, plus FaceTime, Intercom, Apple Music, Podcasts, News, and Apple TV built in.
  • The fine print: Apple did not announce an on-device App Store, some server-side Apple Intelligence features have daily usage limits (with expanded access slated to cost a fee later), and the device is not available in the EU at launch.

The display is only half the story

Here's what nobody talks about with smart displays: they're only as good as the network and the devices around them. A house running a smart hub, cameras, and a growing collection of Matter gadgets lives or dies on its WiFi — and the phone in your pocket is still the remote control for all of it. That's exactly where our gear comes in.

Your WiFi is the real smart home hub

Every smart display, camera, and sensor Apple just sold needs a rock-solid connection. The difference between a smart home that feels magical and one that buffers is usually where the access points are — up high, centered, and out of the way, not buried behind the TV.

Our wall mount bracket for TP-Link Omada WiFi 7 access points and 90° wall arm mount for Ubiquiti UniFi APs put your WiFi exactly where it performs best, with a clean, professional look. If you're adding smart home gear this fall, start with the network — everything else, HomeView included, rides on it.

Your phone is already a smart display

You don't need to wait until November — or spend $299 — to put a smart display on your wall. Our frameless phone wall mount turns any smartphone into an invisible, edge-to-edge smart display: always-on dashboards, camera feeds, music controls, whatever you run on it. It's the same always-on, at-a-glance concept, using the phone you already own, and it works with everything in your house — not just one ecosystem.

Pair it with a properly segmented IoT network (see our UniFi IoT setup guide) and you've got the always-on smart home command center without the new-hardware wait.

What to do now

  1. Get your WiFi right first. Before adding more smart home devices, make sure your access points are well placed. See our guide to optimizing your UniFi WiFi network.
  2. Put a display on the wall today. A phone in our frameless phone wall mount gives you the always-on smart display experience now, with any phone and any smart home platform.
  3. Segment your IoT traffic. More always-on devices means more network load — our UniFi IoT network setup guide walks through keeping cameras, hubs, and dashboards fast and secure.
